Pieter studied Dutch (first-degree and second-degree teaching qualification) and history at the Teacher Training College in Torhout, BE. He taught Dutch for 21 years at the Free Technical Institute (VTI) in Ypres and contributed to the development of three Dutch teaching methods for secondary education in Flanders.
In 2014, Pieter moved to Frankfurt and became an IB teacher of Dutch at the Frankfurt International School (FIS, grades 6-10) and a secondary school teacher at the Stichting Nederlands Onderwijs Frankfurt (SNOF). He also started Dutch language classes for non-native adults at the European Central Bank (ECB).
After moving to Washington DC, Pieter has been affiliated with the Washington International School (WIS) since 2020, as a permanent substitute teacher of English, French, mathematics and history.
